Penny's Story
I have been happily married to my best friend/husband for 45 years. We have been blessed with 12 children and 10 grandchildren. Our family consists of 11 adopted children of several races and various disabilities. Life has been challenging at times but oh so rewarding! We lost our son Greg in 2012 after surgery with complications of diabetes and a major heart attack. He had been born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and had overcome so many surgeries and obstacles in his lifetime. He was an amazing wheelchair basketball player for the Junior Wheelchair Bulls. It left a huge hole in our hearts that can never be filled.. I am retired from my jobs as School Nurse in an elementary school, Special Ed Medical Provider for the school, and RN at The Pavilion nursing and rehabilitation center. I’m enjoying long walks and hikes daily with my husband and our four beautiful German Shepherds. I did train my now 3 year old shepherd Chloe and passed her BH title.. Hunter aka Rizzo is 4 and my husband’s buddy. We also have a 2 year old long coat Shepherd named Mariah. She was injured in the whelping box at the breeders at 3 weeks. e. Unfortunately the damage to her hip and knee and tarsal joint required amputation of the hip and leg. But it has not slowed her down at all! My plan is to certify her as a therapy dog. My most recent addition Is a high drive working line shepherd appropriately named Drama. She is 10 months old. She is a big strong girl doing excellent in her Schutzhund training with a great focused heel. The other 3 are show line but I wanted the challenge of a high drive working line. I drive to Wisconsin 2-3 times a week to train with a great trainer and the breeder of Drama. I love training her and we are pretty much inseparable. She keeps me active and fit for sure! In my spare time I also love to quilt.. We also. have had our now 5 year old granddaughter with us since her birth.and have custody and guardianship of her.. She is an absolute joy as are our other 6 grand daughters and 3 grandsons. We love being grandparents! My life has never been dull, and has kept me very active. I will never be wealthy, but I am rich in the love of my family, all the progress our special needs children have made, the joy of having kind and loving children and grandchildren, and the love of a wonderful husband,
