Penny's Story

Hello Old friends and acquaintances: I'm using the Story Wizard on this so here goes: I always wanted to be a secretary when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. When I need to blow of steam I usually yell and get it over with. My favorite way to relax is to go snorkeling in Jamaica Wildest thing I did in school: I was a pretty boring person. But I do remember going to the midnight movie "Rocky Horror Picture show" with Eddie, Brian, Susan & Debbie Sue If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a radio, snacks, and a smile to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My Hero: Is still my Mom. She always kept my feet on the ground even when my head was in the clouds - I miss her still. My inspiration? Comes from Christ's Life. Treat others as you want to be treated. Don't judge someone else, and knowing that God is in control no matter what. The places I remember are 204 Cherry Lane in Sunnyland. Lived there from the time I was 2 until the summer before 6th grade, then we moved to Lake Camelot. I lived there until I got married in 1987. Then I moved to Davenport Iowa for my husband's job. We lived there until 1999 and my husband was transferred to Madison, WI. We settled in Evansville just south of Madison and have been here since. Hopefully our next move will be for retirement and we will head somewhere warm. Obsessions: My Family, My Horse Mia, House MD, American Idol, Hexic, JAMAICA Facebook, and now SOLDIERS' ANGELS Biggest surprise in life: 3 kids in 3 years. Kept me busy for many years, but they are all graduated now - and starting their own lives - Jake is Army Nat'l Guard and going to college, Jeff is working 2 jobs, and Alicia is in college at Bradley :) If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my basement, oh wait I already am :o) and add on a master bathroom. My dream home would be in Jamaica. I am a parent of 3 great kids. Jake is 21, Jeff is 19 and working at the local McDonalds and Piggly Wiggly, and Alicia, 18 What have they taught me? That other kids can still be cruel. That your kids become more important than yourself. Which teacher would I love to see again? From Sundoer - Mrs Komsa - she introduced me to my love of reading with the Little House on the Prairie series. From IB - realistically: T.R. Unrealistically: Mr. McCann -- they represent the two favorite parts of HS - Choir & Drama If I won 100 million I'd give part of it...Expand for more
to charity and then spend the rest on my kids, my family and retirement. I am truly happy now, but exponentially happy: Snorkeling in Jamaica with my family. My current age is 45. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be boring. I was so completely un-knowing. Wow career - I started out as a waitress, was a receptionist, then went to beauty school, did that for two years, got married and moved, became a receptionist again. After the kids came I was a stay at home mom, a waitress, a retail clerk, a data conversion operator for the USPS, and now I'm a receptionist during the day and a Soldiers' Angel in my off time. I've thought about being a nurse or a teacher but I didn't want to go back to school. Hmm - my first crush was Scotty Grogan, he died WAY TO YOUNG. Next was Ronnie Goetze, I don't know where he is now, but I remember getting in trouble in for kissing him on the cheek in 2nd grade. My best friend would tell you I'm crazy & fun, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet & shy. Sytles. Well they do seem to repeat themselves. I see my daughter wearing things I did when I was younger. Some of them I still like and wish I could wear, but I don't have the body for them. I find myself wearing things more for comfort than style these days. If I had one do-over it would be to have my own apartment before getting married. I loved living with my parents, but I do wish I could have lived on my own. In 10 years, I hope to be living someplace warm. I'm going to get there by planning well. The oldest friend that I still have contact with would be Misty A. We moved in across the street from her family. We became friends easily though staying friends took some work due to outside forces. I still remember getting lost in the woods and being chased by dobermans. My first job was at Marco Peoria, where I got paid 4.25 to answer phones and type sales proposals. What I remember most about it is getting sexually harrassed by one of the sales reps. When I was in 1st grade, one of the school rules was to stay out of the puddles of water on the playground. A kid ran through a puddle got the tops of my shoes wet and I got swats from the paddle for breaking the rules (even though technically I didn't). Well the story wizard is out of ideas, so I guess I'm updated. You probably know more about me than you wanted. It was fun reminiscing tho. Hope you have a Wonderful 2010
