Penny's Story
The Christmas season always reminds me of one of the kindest gesture of a Teacher that had a reputation for being really mean.
Mr Okuda was my 6th grade Teacher, He was very tuff you did NOT! mess around in his class room. Everyone was scared to death of him. Every year at Christmas Time we would have a gift exchange drawing and on the last day (Friday) before christmas break we would have a little party and everyone would exchange their gifts. Some how I was forgotten, (I forget who the dead beat kid was ) but everyone got a gift except me. I was so upset I went to the back of the room...Expand for more
where no one could see me and cried. Two days went by, it was Sunday after noon at home and I was in the kitchen doing dishes still feeling heart broke that I was forgotten. I heard a knock at the back door, I opened it and to my shock there was Mr.Okuda with my Christmas gift for me and a tear in his eye telling me how sorry he was. There are no words to discribe how touch I was and I have never forgotten
that and I never will... I was lucky enough to have run into Mr. Okuda many, many years later in the 80's and thanked him once again. To my surprise he had not forgotten me either.
