Perry's Story
Most graduates of the class of '71 would not know me because, by the time I got to high school, I was totally, not into school and that is the time when you really need to be into school because it sets the stage for you to launch out to wherever you are going in life. I did not even make it to the yearbook photo sessions. I left Elliot Jr. High, where I was deeply into school, I went to Eastern and got lost. I got in Eastern, got distracted by a girl and my grades and everything else went south. I graduated, floundered around from job to job making a go of nothing. One day I got serious about life, went to ITT Business Institute and learned to type, became a court reporter, left that profession and did administrative work for the World Bank for the next 30 years, with several trips to Asia, working in 3rd world countries. Even with a decent job, life was still hard and going south. I needed God. I sought Him and He helped me. I went into the ministry, graduated from Wash., Bible College, went to Capitol Bible Seminary. I earned a Master’s Degree in Christian Studies from Crow...Expand for more
n Christian College. I did all of that while raising a family of 4 children. We put them all through their degrees at Ivy league schools. One has a BA, two have MAs and one is a doctoral candidate. I have been published in one book and several newspapers. I am a pianist and a pastor, a roller-skater, a skier and a hand-dancer. How's that for a combination. I do believe in having wholesome fun. Beyond my relationship with God, the most touching thing that I can say is that, my high school and Jr. High classmates have no idea how often I have thought about them individually. Now I will take a deep breath and say good-bye for now. I hope to make one of the reunions and see many of you. BTW, the above picture was taken in a very swank hotel in Galveston Texas. My wife and I were getting ready to board a cruise to several Bahama Islands. I have some other pictures that I may share one day. I have pictures of me when I climbed the Great Wall of China, and when I entered the Forbidden City, and several pictures of my meetings with villagers in Laos. God’s been really good to me.
