Pete's Story
yes, time to update this story
left Thompson after graduating and went to U of M, but finally decided on a civil tech diploma at RRCC
moved to Alberta in '77 and besides going back and forth to finish my education in Manitoba, have been here ever since
went and spent time in the NWT working in remote communities building roads and public works
even did my "time" in Fort McMurray...................
ended up around Edmonton where I work as a construction surveyor, "pounding little sticks in the ground and telling people where to put buildings"
around the way, I managed to get married and divorced a couple of times (seems to be a hazard of life)
went back to Thompson a few times over the years just to visit and see what the old town looks like
was back last May(2009) and was saddened to see an "old" mining town
not much in the way of new construction and many of the roads and buildings looked tired
was imp...Expand for more
ressed at least by the "new" Boston Pizza and by Robert Bateman's mural of a wolf on the highrise building
some people I went to school with still live there, but I wasn't able to connect up with them in the short time I was there
did manage to go to RDPC...........no more open classroom, in fact, came across "locked doors' throughouht
maybe we can't go back..................life did seem simpler back then
anyhow, now I live out in the country NW of edmonton by a small town called Onoway
life is quiet, but not too far from the big city to go to work everyday
I try to check this site and connect with those who show up from Thompson
Always curious as to where those I went to school with have ended up now,
so leave a note and I'll get back to you as soon as I can
seems that email addresses and such block this info from others
anyhow, hope all of you are having a good life, wherever you have ended up
