Pete's Story

Life Hello to all who remember me.After graduating I had tried college, did a stint in the military first as a Medic, then in Tanks in the 2/70th Armor Div. in Erlangen Germany. There I honed my skills as a drummer and percussionist and made many friends overseas, and got back home and made friendships with some of the great names in Jazz.I had come close to death not only in the military but in 1988 in a motorcycle accident, nothing really happened to me and I took it as a sign more than luck, and appreciate life more than I ever did! My regular career gig is for a Printing Ink Company for a while now and enjoy my work. I enjoy trips including antique shopping and stuff, and have many Nephews and Nieces I spend time with, along with a handful of Friends. I am also proud to announce that in 2004 I gave up cigarettes!! Yay! My only vices are Mochas and Cocktails, my record collection and playing Jazz these days. Still enjoy trips along the coast, and amusement parks. I hope everyone from the old days is doing well and are happy and healthy. I remember and enjoy past memories a lot..thanks for everything to all and hope to meet again!! Military U.S. Army Ft. Jackson South Carolina, Advanced Training and Assignment at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas. After an extended break and interest in persuing a different type of experience, I left the Reserves and joined once again . I found the "New" Army a little different, as n...Expand for more
ot only a prior service soldier that a lot of the new guys looked to for answers, but the fact that you were no longer grabbed and beaten in training by your Drill Sergeant a little refreshing. I was shocked to be picked specifically by my Drill Training Sergeant only because he was from Sacramento as well and had it in for me. I was able to pass on the first 4 and worst weeks of Basic as I was already in before, but the bad news was I did not stay in shape and had to catch up with the most horrible remedial physical training I had ever seen. I graduated none the less, and looking back was thinking it was amazing that I could at age 25 run 7 miles and now am lucky to be able to walk that far..haha.. yikes! I can't believe how I was finally able to see Europe, drink different beers and make friends with people even with slight language barriers, but one thing was evident, that people no matter where you are, can see that a person who is kind, friendly and has a true appreciation of the surroundings makes friends..I did. It's also something else thinking about how many Europeans really like Jazz more than we do here where it originated. You even see stamps with some of our Jazz Greats there but not here. I always think about how it was really something that I was in a Tank, one of the biggest things you can be in, and know how to use the damn thing!! I have had a lot of great experiences in my life, and glad to have had them.

For All of us who survived the 1970's and 1980's this sums it up.
While everyone was caught up in Disco, I would go home and listen to Dean Martin
