Peter's Story
Life
Ah, where to begin? I was unable to go into the Air Force as planned, so I went to J. Sarge for a bit, got married, and had a daughter. As far as a career, I piddled a bit in the restaurant business then started in the Electrical field, joined the local electrician's union - IBEW 666 of all numbers - and have moved into a house. I have been enjoying spending time with my wife, my daughter, family, and good friends.
School
I guess this particular bio has to do with grade school. I don't really have too much to say about grade school other than I made a few good friends and I'm happy it's a time I never have to revisit.
College
Ah, college! A chance to learn something more, to get a better chance at a job, yada yada yada. It's all BS. I went to college, granted it was a community college, but still I did little more than party and anything else other than school work. Now that I'm older and supposedly wiser I wish I had actually applied myself, but the end result would have been the same.
Workplace
My work bio: Well, I worked at a restaurant for a few years, then got into the electrical trade. A few years later I joined IBEW Local Union 666 where I had to take a two year refresher cours...Expand for more
e that the prior apprenticeship didn't cover. I finished that and I am now a Inside Journeyman Wireman for the local union and a Va state licensed journeyman electrician.
I've worked on such jobs as Richmond Filtrona, Baskervill and Sons Archetectural firm, N.A.S.A. Scramjet windtunnel remodel, WTVR Channel 6, Dominion Power's Tredegar St Energy Trading Floor, MCV's Stony Point location, Infinieon Technologies, Dominion Power's Dutch Gap Power Station, Kentucky Ford Truck Plant in Louisville KY, and many others. Honestly I think union labor is the way to go, the work is always top rate and done on time unlike most non-union outfits that miss things then charge a lot extra on what they miss and oftentimes the job finish is delayed due to that.
Currently I'm working in a maintenance team for a major bank - my team is responsible for the upkeep of 3 buildings in the downtown Richmond area and 2 just south of the Manchester Bridge. This job is a bit more challenging than most I've held due to the many different things I've had to learn that deal with trades other than electrical, dealing with outside vendors, and transitioning from field work to the corporate enviornment and it's restrictions.
