Peter's Story

Peter is from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hmmm. Who am I and where have I been ... I'll try to fill in the gaps since I've only been to one (20 year) of the class reunions and rarely if at all, see my old classmates and friends, especially of late, living in Florida since Easter of 2000. I was not involved in any high school organized activities since at age 12 started working full time for Dad and did not have time for "that kind of stuff" (Dads' words, not mine). Even dropping out of wrestling mid season, 7th grade. Did manage to get out to a football game or two, and always allowed to go to the school dances (never could figure out the old mans priorities). Also had a couple of class parties at our home in the clubroom (when Pam - and Michelle - walked out with a dozen or so of my best albums!! And a car decoration "assembly" of Ronny Ruckmans' old Ford in our shop one year. Does anyone remember a couple of bonfire parties in the pasture at our home(stead), Sr. year, at the very east end of 51st St. N.? Or did everyone leave too drunk to remember. There had to be 100 people there, because the back yard (about 1/2 acre) was full of cars, and then parked all the way up the road. Both times the next morning there were a dozen or so people still there passed out in their cars. Cool ! My schools include: Immaculate Conception School, 1st thru 8th grades, during which I wrestled for Roosevelt Jr. High during 6th and 7th grades, since ICS did not have a wrestling program, taking a 3rd place State medal in 6th grade at 69 lb. weight division. Bishop Kelley High School for 9th, and 10th thru graduation, class of '70, at McLain Senior High School (Office Machines, Typing and Spanish, Phys. Ed., Machine Shop and Power Mechanics.). Next I attended Tulsa (Junior College/TJC) Community College (Nutrition/Weight Training (lifting), Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Philosophy and Government & Economics). P.R.E.P. School of Real Estate Grad. and Okla. Licensed, Tiger School Grad. with Honors/Master of Tigers Award and licensed Okla. Insurance and Annuities. Later ('90/'91) at Tulsa Vo-Tech, Aircraft Technology: Airframe/wing design, weight and lift physics, Aircraft Hydaulics systems and Electronics High/low voltage and circuitry. (3.6 GPA ! while working every day !) I began working as a young boy and all thru my teen years (without pay) for my father doing all phases of residential remodeling and home and industri...Expand for more
al from-the-ground-up new construction (any classmates that would come by to visit would get put to work by my Dad -- remember that, guys? All day, no money, but he'd buy lunch !! No one ever came twice.) At 18 I left home (ESCAPED !! --->Dad's PISSED !! He disowned me --- really ! Big fight !! He really DID disown me !!) and began a career of approx. 25 years (accumulation) in the Structural Steel, Pipe, Vessel and Heavy Vessel/Heat Exchanger Fabrication Industry, also to include Nuclear, Bio-fired and Hydro-Electric Powerplant fabrication and Oil Refinery shut-down/re-fits. It turnes out that all those years learning and building for my Dad (for free) finally paid off, and before my 19th birthday had earned status, and paygrade, as Layout Fabricator/Fitter 1st Class, and at 24, added Code Welder Class "A" certification to my credits. Employed full-time dayshift construction In '83 during oil/steel industry recession, founded Pete Cacoperdo DBA Water-Tite Roofing & Construction Co. working in the evenings and weekends with my Ford 4x4 pickup, hand tools, and a helper from "Labor-Ready". Business almost totally dissolved around end of '89 due to divorce of 18 year marriage, putting (by that time) three crews totalling 24 men out of work. What a shame. Married one of my high school sweethearts (the one from Nathan Hale High) at 18, bought my new home at 19, and started our family of 4 kids at 20. Now I have 8 grandkids so far, my last grand-daughters arrival 2013 --- I am truly a blessed man! Eighteen years after our marriage in '71 my world shattered when I finally divorced her, clueless to the consequences. I know the marriage was destined to be, because God gave me these awesome children, and they were meant to be who they are. Otherwise, I should have stuck with the North side girls !! I also know that this marriage wasn't meant to "keep", because if I stayed with her one more day ---, well---, let's just say, she's still alive and I'm not in prison ! ! :)( ? ? Pete Music Peter likes includes Classic rock, Roadhouse Keyboard Boogie, Contemporary R&B. Books he likes include John Grisham, Ross Perot, Tom Clancy. Movies he likes include True Grit (1969), Dances with Wolves. TV shows he likes include Everybody Loves Raymond, M*A*S*H, Cheers. One of Peter's favorite quotes is: " I yam what I yis, and I yis what I yam ! " From the memoirs of renowned intellect and philosopher, Popeye (The Sailor)
