After high school, I went to Michigan State for 2 years and then transferred and graduated from Western Michigan University. While in my junior year, I met Irene Duff, who I married in June of 1982. After graduation, I was hired by Michigan Bell and worked there for 15 years, moving up through the Marketing organization in various Sales, Product Management & Customer Service positions. roles. During those years, my wife and I were blessed with 4 amazing children. Nate (1984), Steve (1988), Sarah (1990) and Ellen (1993). After leaving Michigan Bell, I have moved more times than I would have desired due to various downsizings, corporate consolidations/reorganizations and corporate collapses (think Enron). Those positions were in the Customer Service, Operations and Loyalty areas. As of February of 2008, I am working for Advance Engineering (a medium-size metal stamping and manufacturing company) in Redford as the General Manager of Human Resources. My family and I have had much of our personal lives centered around our church, Highland Park Baptist Church of Southfield (at 12 and Lahser).
