Peter's Story
My story...well... I'm not married - a "confirmed bachelor" (wink, wink) you might say. After high school I was in Amherst for a while...went to school in Charlottetown PEI, was in Cornerbrook NFLD for a while, then went to Japan (Sapporo). I began teaching English there for something to do and it clicked with me. I was there for 13 years. I got a teaching certificate and have been a teacher ever since. During the 90's I also lived in Bankok, Thailand for a while. I got out shortly before the economy crashed and burned.
In 2007 I returned to Canada to live -Vancouver - and taught English there to recent immigrants and refugees. Schools don't always stay in business, sadly - and also I have itchy feet (my podiatrist is on that), so I travelled to a place I hadn't been before; China. I've been here for the last 5 years and 4 months. I'm in a small city, Taicang (just...Expand for more
next to Shanghai).
The last more than 4 years have been a refreshing change; I started teaching kindergarten and have really been enjoying it. The kids are 4 to 7 years old and they are really friendly, cute and lovable!! I love every single one of them. I will return to Canada to live again at some point - Nova Scotia - no doubt, and I'll enjoy it when I do.
I have gotten back into shape again recently, and lost about 25 disgusting pounds that needed losing - and even though 50 is just 2 months away, I haven't started to feel old yet. I noticed some people on this website mentioned their favorite music, tv shows, ect. My favorites include the Rolling Stones (saw then twice in Japan: 2003, 2006), Bob Dylan (saw him in Vancouver, 2008), the Red Hot Chille Peppers (haven't seen them live). T.V. shows: Weeds, Shameless, Modern Family, Veep, House of Cards, ect.
