Peter's Story

Life Pete Fry began playing hockey at the age of 7. 32 years later he is majority shareholder and CEO of one of the largest hockey companies in the world. “Although I have many job titles -- CEO, Executive Marketer, Franchise Salesperson, Franchise Support Executive, Goalie” -- the one I am most proud of is 'coach.'” Pete Fry believes that people should take pride in what they do and do what they love for a living. He has been in hockey since he was 7 years old. From playing minor hockey to leaving home at 15 to play for one of Canada’s most highly touted Junior teams alongside such hockey greats as Cam Neely and Ray Ferraro. He was later drafted by the New Jersey Devils and played on various professional teams in North America yet also as far away as Sweden. When he was 25 after a successful year playing pro in Sweden his contract was not renewed and Fry and on the lowest of all lows fortunately turned to listening to Personal Development tapes instead of drugs and alcohol. "That time was very hard for me said Fry. I thought what I loved to do was now taken from me until when listening to a Tony Robbins tape I heard some great advice to find something I love to do and do it in a way that provides value for other people. That’s when the Puckmasters idea began. I was through making a living as a hockey player yet I new I could help many others pursue their dreams in hockey and also create a lifestyle that was involved in the sport of my passion.” Fry not only followed through on his vision he expanded and created a system where other ex hockey players, coaches and managers can also ‘live their passion’ through owning a Puckmasters Hockey Training Franchise. er franchise system. They are a year-round hockey training center that focuses not only on building the local hockey players skills, they also build their self-confidence and enjoyment of the game. They do this through 5 main revenue streams: 1-on-1 hockey training (which makes them totally unique), Summer Hockey Schools, The World's Greatest Hockey Clinic, 3-on-3 leagues, and contracts with local youth hockey associations. Puckmasters has developed a truly unique concept - one that allows you to have fun while offering you the opportunity to get closer to your financial goals. So Fry, now 38 years old, a husband and father of two with a lengthy list of responsibilities and obligations. And although he has many job titles -- CEO, Executive Marketer, Executive Franchise Sales Person, Executive Franchise Support, Goalie -- the one he is most proud of is "Coach" It's the one I write on surveys and customs forms. “My daughter’s junior kindergarten class was recently asked what their dads do for work. The responses were things like, "My dad plays hockey" and "My dad figures stuff out." My daughter said, "I've never seen my dad do work." It's true. Puckmasters doesn't seem like real work, yet, Fry is real proud of what he does. “My parents never once questioned the practicality behind my passion, even when I first started and slept a the first Puckmasters coaching sessions on Christmas Day and working straight through New Years Eve.” “I plan to pass on the same lesson to my children. Find the thing you love.” “You might not make it to the top, yet if you are doing what you love, there is much more happiness and you will enjoy the journey.” Puckmasters is currently awarding large protected territories across the United States and Canada.
