Right now I¿m living in West Palm Beach ground zero for the insidious butterfly ballot and all its consequences. My present marriage started in 2005. Cindy, my spouse is a hydro-geologist and very matter of fact. She has a son, Charlie, 7 who is autistic. A large part of my home life revolves around his care. inking. RDI teaches/reminds the parents the natural teaching behaviors usually performed during infancy. There is another therapy, HANDLE that addresses the sensory issues with processing and helps the child open up so that they can learn more.
When I was I senior at GHS I spent a summer at Shady Brook speech and language center in Moodus as a rec counselor. There were a number of autistic children enrolled and I remember professional language counselors discussing cures, mostly vitamins versus ABA (applied behavior analysis). All that stuff is so wrong and now 30 plus years later that same old info is being pushed.
With RDI and Handle, mostly though his mother¿s efforts, Charlie has improved dramatically. He makes associations between separate pieces of information, he can plan for the future, he can tolerate changes.
I guess my point is that from all the information floating around sometimes you do get just the right information.
