Peter's Story
I was born in Brazil about a million years ago. Dad was with the US embassy down there, doing God knows what for a certain 3-letter government agency. When i was 2 we moved to New Hampshire because Dad wanted to be a chicken farmer. That lasted for about 2 years and Dad had to go back to the agency and we moved to Camp Peary, VA. After that, we moved to Saipan where I
started school at the Navy Dependents School (1-2)moved to Taiwan, went to Taipei American School (3-5). Then we moved back to the states and lived in VA. First Vienna (6-7) then McLean (8-9): McLean HS - Freshman year only starting in 1963. That was the same year that the Beatles first US big single (I Want to Hold Your Hand) was released. n until 1974. Missed 'Nam but served on the USS America, CVA-66, USS El Paso, LKA-116, USS Ethan Allen, SSBN 608 and USS Whale, SSN 638. Got married the last year in had a daughter and got divorced. Bummed around for a number of years got married again (stuck this time) had a son (21 years after his sister), grandchildren and now work for the American Red Cross as an IT manager. I live on the Delaware river in NJ (don't laugh, it's beautiful here). We can see the annual "Washington Crossing the Delaware" re-enactment from our front porch. It's kind of cool walking down to the NJ side and watching the boats come across. It really puts it into perspective when it is cold and snowy. Some day I will retire but not yet.
Someday has sort of arrived. The Red Cross Chapter I was with was closed along with my job. Might start Social Security and my pension soon. We shall see.
