Peter's Story
After leaving Sherwood in 1974, I spent the following year (Grade 13) at Sir Wilfred Laurier in the lower city. There really wasn't enough time to meet new people as we were all trying to do our best marks for university. I ended up going to Queen's in Kingston and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours.
Like many Hamiltonians, I found employment at Stelco albeit in the Finance Division. After a number of years, I saw the hand writing on the wall and left. I spent a number of years working for Burgeonvest Securities as their corporate accountant and corporate finance associate. I eventually spent some time at Mission Services as their Director of Finance and Administration.
I created a company called Ingenuity Alliance Inc which had been developing the best recycling processes for appliances and e-waste. I am also became the President of another company called Advanced Clean Energy Inc which takes carbon rich products such as used tires, creosoted railway ties, plastics and foam ...Expand for more
and through a closed loop process converts it into a virtually sulphur free diesel fuel. These two companies as well as a US tire recycling firm, a Canadian transportation firm and a US e-waste recycling firm were rolled up into a new company called MetaGreen Solutions Inc. I was fortunate to be named the President of the combined corporation.
I eventually earned my Certified Management Accountant's designation followed by a Chartered Professional Accountant's designation. I was the former Chair of the Hamilton CMA subcommittee and eventually became the inaugural President of the 3000+ member Hamilton CPA Ontario Association.
I was also awarded the Order of Niagara (2000) as a Bishop's Appointee for support of Anglican parishes across the Diocese.
The year following graduation, I met a smart, outgoing and attractive lady, fell in love and married her. We have two great adult aged children who are now finding their own way. I have enjoyed good health and do enjoy great wine and love to travel.
