I hate writing this kind of "stuff" because it all too often sounds arrogant. I'll try not to do that. My wife Kathy and I have been married 41 years now. Beyond a doubt I have been instrumental in helping her develop special talents including: patience, compassion and charity. Pretty darn good of me I think. After 15 years in Alaska we have relocated to the lower 48 states. Well to be specific we now live in New Mexico where I am the superintendent for Capulin Volcano National Monument, Since joining the National Park Service in 1992, I have served as a lead project geologist (Redwood National Park), coastal ecologist for 4 parks in Alaska, and an ocean's program coordinator in Alaska. So much for the PhD in marine toxicology now that we reside and work in New Mexico. However, I find some comfort knowing that beneath the lava flows is an ancient seabed. Anyway, thinking back to high school who would have ever thought I would have a masters let alone a doctorate. Heck, I was having way too much fun enjoying non academic pursuits back then. High school was a four year vacation for me. Spent a little time in the military and determined that educations wasn't that bad after all. I returned to college and graduated several times over.
