Phil's Story
Life
After graduation I spent one year at M.U. but decided the college scene was not for me. In the fall of 71 I joined the U.S. Marine Corps and spent a lovely two years traveling at Uncle Sams expense. I did get to go to the Mediteranian for six months on a cruise. Of course the ship was not a luxury liner, and I shared it with 800 other marines and 500 sailors. At least I got to see a lot of Europe and actually got to walk among the Parthanon of Athens. While I was in the Marines I married my first wife. We had our first child, (daughter Kelly) in May of 73. After getting out of the military, I worked a few different jobs, but spent three years with Lipton Tea in Independence. Daughter number 2 came along in December of 1976. In 1977 I got hired be the K.C.MO. Police Department, and I graduated from the police academy in June of that year. wife. I stayed with K.C.P.D. until the fall of 79. That is also the same time I married my second wife (and final one) Sherry. Not long after that I was hired by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. I started out as a deputy in the patrol division. I have been with them all this time, and now I am a Captain, in charge of the Staff Services Division. Sherry and I have two boys, Caleb and Ian. We moved to Lone Jack in 1981 where we bought about 14 acres. We built a house here and have been here ever since. I have three grand children, (Tyler, Sydney, and Riley) all from Kelly, my oldest. I was able to go to our ten year reunion, but sadly have missed the rest. I am hoping to catch the 35th, and see everyone again. We will have a lot of catching up to do. My best to everyone. Feel free to drop me a line or two in an e-mail. I promise to respond. Hope to see you all again some day soon. Phil
