Philip's Story

Life Grew up in Whittier (Carmela JHS and South Whittier JHS) and went to Monte Vista HS for 3 years (would have been in the first 4 year graduating class). Was only at Corona my senior year (68), but have many fond memories of that time. Played football (we won the Ivy League championship that year). Went to Whittier College (played football there, too), then Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago. Was in the Army 1982-1991 (was stationed in Texas, Kansas, Germany and Arizona). Went to medical school in Iowa in 1991. Interned in San Diego then did a pathology residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. Stayed there as staff for 2 years, went o...Expand for more
verseas unaccompanied for 2+ years (Puerto Rico), then returned to Portsmouth for 2 more years. Retired (September 2005) from the Navy with no real plans. Ended up working part-time at a clinic for several years and also work as a medical examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia doing forensic medicine & dentistry, which I am still doing. I also work with the FBI to help identify unidentified and missing persons. Still married to Emily (43 years) with one adult son. He married in 2004 and we have one grandchild, a beautiful boy, born Jan 09. Would love to hear from prior classmates! Not a "gold member" so can't access the guest-book but can see the e-mail center info.
