Phillip's Story
Life
I enter the Navy in 1978 as an E-1 and received training in submarines and as a Missile Technician. Within a year and a half I was assigned to my first ship, the USS Proteus, a submarine tender in Guam. After that I was assigned to the USS Robert E. Lee, a submarine in Hawaii. It was here that I came to know Jesus as my lord and savior. From this day forward, God has being a part of my life in every way. In 1982 I was re-assigned to the USS Nathan Hale and then to the USS Holland in Charleston SC. During my stay in Charleston, the Lord brought my lovely bride, Karen Lynn Walsh and me together and we now have two wonderful children, Mary and Jonathan. In 1989 I made Chief (E-7) and was stationed at the Submarine Training Facility. In 1991 I was commissioned to Ensign and re-assigned to the USS F...Expand for more
rank Cable in Charleston. After making Lieutenant in 1995, I was re-assigned to the Strategic Weapons Facility in the Seattle WA area. By far the most beautiful place I have been. In 1998, I was stationed at US Strategic Command, a Joint Forces Command in Omaha NE, one of the best places to rise a family. In June 2000, I was promoted to Lieutenant Commander (0-4). In Dec 2001 I became the Officer-in-Charge of the Nuclear Weapons Inspections Detachment, Bangor WA. June 2004, I retired after 26 years of Naval Service. I currently live in Silverdale WA and work at the Submarine Base. My son start college at Seattle Pacific University this year and my daughter, who married an Air Force Band member, gave my wife and I our first granddaughter. God has been good to my family and me, and we love him so much.
