Phillip's Story
Life
Married; two children by previous marriage, son in Va. and daughter in Calif. Spent 28 years in the Air Force and retired from it in 1990. Worked for 5 years for the Post Office and 5 years for Fuji Color Processing. Now retired in Horseheads. Have purchased a Motorhome and the wife and I and our dog spent 12 wonderful days traveling to Cheyenne, Wyo. for Frontier Days and continued onward to Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore and Devil's Tower in 2007. This year, after a trip to Hawaii, we will continue our RV travels going to Virginia and Texas to visit children and grandchildren. UPDATE: Have done the Texas trip as well as an RV camping trip to St. Augustine, Fla. Haven't done the Hawaii trip, but it is in the works! After smoking for over 40 years, I finally quit 4 years ago, however, it was a little too late. I have what they call COPD - Cardio Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Breathing is a little difficult at times, but better than some alternatives I suppose. Contemplating upgrading this to "Gold Membership", so I can greet old friends and possibly gin up a 50th high school reunion in 2011. Another update: This spring took the RV to California(L.A.) to see my daughter. On the way back we stopped at the Grand Canyon, then proceeded to Houston to my wife's son and family. Acadia Natl. Park. Last year on a trip to Branson, we stopped in Crossville, Tenn. to see Duane Pease. He retired from Kodak in Rochester and is now playing alot of golf. On 3 DEc 09 had a Catherization and AngioPlasti at Arnot Ogden here in Elmira. Had one artery 90% blocked. Back in 91 had a heart attack and a cath and angio at that time. Pretty good-it lasted 18 years. As long as this one and me lasts 18 years, I'll be in good shape. Quit smoking about 5 years ago, but I guess that wasn't soon enough - lol.
June 2010
Just completed a 5-week vacation where we drove the RV to Houston, spent a week with the grandchildren, flew to Hawaii for 10 days, flew back to Houston, picked up the dog and drove to Dallas to see my daughter. From there we drove west to Colorado and Utah to visit Zion and Bryce National Parks and returned home via Salt Lake City and Cheyenne, Wyo. Quite a trip - 6,100 miles on the RV. The scenery in the West is wonderful to see. Many snow-capped mountains and mountains of solid rock as well as Elk and Mountain Goats. Saw three Bull Elk right next to the road in Colo. and five Mountain Goats in Utah, again next to the road. We've driven to and thru most of the states except the extreme northern ones all the way out to Washington and Oregon, so that will probably be our next trip maybe later in the summer.
