Life
Hey kids... what's up?
I thought I'd update my info since it's been awhile since I've been here. Some things have changed, others haven't... but I'm still me, so that's cool...
That's it for now... for my former school chums, let me know how things are going in your neck o' the woods.
I'll be seein' you...
School
Wow... dig the questions they offer to answer. Okay, so, like... I'll go with those.
Biggest crush: Loré Le Hara (looked an awful lot like Lynda Carter... who's still a big crush! Even my wife knows this!! :-)
Biggest Teacher Inspiration: Doc Elliot, George Andrews & George Schwindeman
Would I do it all over again? Yeah, probably. I'd make better choices, treat people much nicer and embrace the "strength of youth" to do things that matter in the world. Now, I'm just an actor.
College
Had a couple of choices when I graduated. I decided on Harbor College because of their commercial music program in preparation to move to Cal State Northridge to major in Studio Performance. Made the Dean's List (4.0 consecutive for three years) before transferring.
Very, very disappointed in university life versus college... seemed a lot like the cliques in high school only la...Expand for more
rger. Got my first dose of racism at Northridge as well... an actor friend was pledging a "Black" fraternity (his words) and was forced to do some odd things that were really pushing him to the edge. This was also the first time I heard the words "It's a black thing... you wouldn't understand." Stupid me, I wanted to know so I said "I know that... that's why I'm asking you to explain it to me."
Boy, was I naive.
Long story short: didn't agree with the "cookie cutter" mentality of what they were putting out. I realized I needed to go somewhere else where, because of the long commute from Torrance to Northridge, I dropped out of an English class towards the beginning of the semester. I wound up passing that class with a "C". Go figure.
Because of that experience and what I did immediately after university, I've become a firm believer of On-The-Job training. Learn from a professional, someone who's DOING instead of teaching, and you'll probably go a lot farther.
Bottom line is we learn from every single thing we do. I learned enough to know that I will always be learning throughout my life. I've found, too, that I've learned the most from children. What a gift they are to mankind!
