Phyllis's Story
There has been alot of water under the bridge since graduating high school in 1977. Let's see-- I married Gary Mott from San Augustine, Texas shortly after high school. (Met him in Commerce while I was going to College). I quit ETSU and started a family. I have 2 wonderful kids, Dawna and Chris. They are what got me through the many years since YHS. I divorced Gary in 1982 and started working at Hopkins Co Memorial Hospital. I had the opportunity to go to nursing school there at the hospital and did so, graduating in 1984. That started my nursing career as an LVN. I have worked in Nursing Homes, Home Health, been a School Nurse, worked in a Dr.'s office, and have done private duty. his one out. Jerry was a wild man, but time does have a way of changing people, lol. We have just celebrated our 10th anniversary. Life is good. Between Jerry and I, we have 5 kids, and 5 grandchildren with 2 on the way. I love being Granny P or Nana. My grandbabies are everything to me. I still live in Yantis, where at this time I am the First Lady of Yantis. Yes, Jerry is the Mayor and we live in the Mayor's Mansion right on HWY 154 in downtown Yantis. LOL!!!!! My daughter, Dawna lives in Yantis with her 2 boys, and my son, Chris (Bebo) just moved to Sheridan,Wyoming. My parents, Bob & Joyce Ponder still live in Yantis too! My grandmother, Mamie Moreland is still living and is still in Yantis too. She just celebrated her 94th birthday. I hope I have her genes, LOL!!!!
