Phyllis's Story
Short version: Got married at 20, had four children. Got divorced after 23 years, during which time I started college at Buena Vista College (University) graduating in 1988 with a BA in management science/psychology. I sang at whatever functions I could, mostly weddings and funerals. I remarried in 1989 and divorced that guyâ¦whatever his name wasâ¦ï in 1993. Whew!! I have been single ever since.
While married though, I did have four children; stopped when I figured out what was causing that. Okay, that isnâÂÂt true; I just had my hands full with four children in under 7 years. They are all married, with children now, producing 10 grandchildren ranging in age from almost 20 to two at 5 years.
I tried my hand at a few different jobs but since I was a homemaker for so many years other than an employee, my education wasnâÂÂt enough to help me compete in the job market with the young studs and cute chickie babes I guess. ï Anyway I am good at taking care of others so I work with the mentally handicapped in Glenwood, Iowa at the Glenwood Resource Center, for the state of Iowa. I manage to pay my bills and...Expand for more
have a little fun money.
I got my motorcycle license about 2 years ago and bought a bike. Then I decided that I would rather have a scooter; so I sold it and bought a Piaggio MP3 500. (If anyone would like to look that up on the Internet, please do so, then let me know if you are interested in purchasing mine. I donâÂÂt ride it.) I decided, however, that I just donâÂÂt have the time to get out there and ride, and finding a riding buddy isnâÂÂt easy since I donâÂÂt have a Hog and tattoos. ï I started guitar lessons a few years ago, and have now figured out how to tune itâ¦if I have an electronic tuner handy. I tried using harmonics but not too good at that. All right, I know how to tune my guitars and I can play a little, enough to strum a few chords when I sing, which is why I took lessons. However, I am also learning theory and reading tabs and music notation. My head has a lot figured out, but my fingers donâÂÂt want to do what my head tells them to do. Perhaps my head isnâÂÂt being consistent enough.
ThatâÂÂs enough for now. I probably lost most of you back a few paragraphs anyway.
