Phyllis's Story
Life
After graduating from Choctaw, I went to OWJC for a year, then joined the Army as an Air Traffic Controller. I was in the Army for 6 years. While stationed at Ft. Rucker, Alabama I married my 1st husband. We moved to Germany where our son, Christopher, was born in 1989. I got out of the Army when I was pregnant and worked Civil Service until we moved back to Alabama in 1991. When we returned to AL, I went to school and got my Bachelor's degree in nursing. and, David, while working at a hospital in Dothan. We have been happily married for 12 years and have a 9 year old son, Sam. My oldest son ot a full academic scholarship to Univ. of Alabama Birmingham. We live in Newton, Alabama where David is a Methodist minister. I continue to work as a nurse in Dothan and am currently pursuing my Masters degree to be a nurse practitioner. I still keep in touch with a few people from Choctaw -- Caroline Horn-Kelly, Bonnie Blalock, Don Schleuter. I met up with Jana Hyde a few years ago in Denver and would love to hear from anyone from Choctaw.
