Barbara's Story
After high school, I went to BYU for 4 years. I got married 2 weeks after I graduated with a bachelor's degree in art, and a minor in English. Tom and I have been married for 40 years, we have 6 children, and 12 grandchildren. We lived in Salt Lake City for 11 years, and then Tom got transferred to Madison, Wisconsin, where we lived for 13 years. He then got transferred to a very small town in central Utah for 6 years, after which he was transferred for the last time to North Ogden, Utah. We're about 1 hour north of Salt Lake City. He retired 2 1/2 years ago, and we went on a mission for our Church. We spent one year in Washington DC working with college-age kids, and had a wonderful time. so many fantastic things to see and do in DC.
Besides being a full time mom, I worked for 6 years as and aide and substitute teacher at a preschool for developmentally delayed 3 and 4 year olds. About 6 years ago I started taking painting classes at a community art center, and am having a great time painting landscapes and portraits with pastels and oil. I also spend a lot of time doing genealogy research. Ancestry.com is my favorite web site! I also belong to 2 book clubs.
In the year 2004 I had both hips and one knee replaced. Maybe it was too much modern dance and drill team! Everything is working well, but not as good as when I was 35--although no other part of me is as good as when I was 35, either!
I would love to hear from my old friends, or rather, friends from long ago! Hope all is well.
