Prestine's Story

Hmmmmm I'm not very exciting, but I'll give it a try. In 1985 I married Barry F, a great guy, but not my soul mate. We had two daughters while he climbed his career ladder. Differences in life views caused us to divorce in 1991. I met Larry in 1993. Didn't really want to ever get married again, but finally gave in to my heart in 1998. Along with helping me raise my two beautiful daughters, we have a son together. Larry assisted in helping me achieve my dream and go back to school to become a teacher. He is actually the reason I am back in Deming. My dad offered him a great opportunity to work for him in Deming, and after much consideration, he accepted. He later found out what I had tried to say (my step-brothers at the shop don't treat my dad very well). Larry couldn't stand to watch it keep happening, so he ended up leaving after a couple of years. He returned later to run his own business from leased bays in my dad's shop, but the same things were still happening. Now he works for Homeland Security in the Border Patrol facility. So, never say never, I've been back in Deming since the fall of 1998, the same time I began my teaching career! I have taught 5th grade, 4th grade, 7th grade, and am currently at 6th grade. I am working on my masters degree in Technology in Education through Lesley University in Massachusetts. I'm loving it! Kinda strange to have me and my two daughters all in college! Besides meeting Larry, another wonderful highlight in my life is having a sister. Those of you who knew me i...Expand for more
n high school know that I was an only child. My mom had shared with me during my junior or senior year in high school that she and my biological dad had once had another daughter, before they had married. Back then, that just wasn't acceptable, and she was given up for adoption. But in February 2001 Laura found us. It is the most amazing thing to me. We are so much alike! I just wish she and my nephews and her husband were closer. They live in New Jersey. I love my summertime and holiday breaks as Laura and I stay on the phone for hours at a time just hanging out together! The times we've been together have been fantastic. It is interesting to find out similarities from our past. She was pregnant with her first child the same time I was. Her oldest son and my oldest daughter are a little over two months apart in age! Then comes my next daughter, then her son, then the gap until my son. We had an opportunity to take a family photo for my mom in 2001 and you can definitely tell we are related! We all have the same features: blonde hair and the same eyes, except for her youngest who has his dad's Greek brown eyes. Her youngest is a senior this year and I hope with all my heart that once he graduates, she will consider moving closer! Well, I guess that's it. Have any questions for me? Drop me a note! And if you're ever back in Deming, come see me! I'm teaching at what used to be Deming Junior High School. It's now Deming interMediate School, a 6th grade only school. Interesting age to teach!
