Preston's Story
Life
Married to Sandie Thoburn Shepherd in 1979. Couldn't imagine being any happier or more blessed!
I have two girls...Christie (23), a graduate of CU-Boulder, married to Clint Larr (in March, 2005)... and Jennifer (20), a sophmore at Metro State in Denver, Colorado. We couldn't have two better girls (and son-in-law)!
In a nut-shell, places I've lived:
Dallas, TX (1954-1955) -- born at Baylor Hospital
Austin, TX (1955-1973) -- graduated from Lanier High School
Lubbock, TX (1973-1980) -- graduated from Texas Tech
Bellingham, WA (1980-1984)
Oklahoma City, OK (1984-1985)
Boston, MA (1985-1988)
Denver, CO (1988-1989)
Manila, Philippines (1989-1990)
San Francisco, CA (1990-1993)
Manila, Philippines (1993-1997)
Denver, CO. (1997-2001)
Tokyo, Japan (2001-2003)
Highlands Ranch, CO. (2003-2006)
Castle Rock, CO. (2006 to present)
Graduated from Texas Tech ('77, BBA-Finance) and Pepperdine ('79, MA-Religion)
Worked for Texas Instruments from 1977-1980. 23 years as a minister for the churches of Christ. Now I work in Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty) in the Denver area.
Love to travel...been to about 15 countries in Asia, Africa and Europe.
My parents were wonderful people! My father, Howard P. Shepherd died in 1981 at 76 years of age. My mother, Mary Helen Hartnett Shepherd died in 2001 at 80 years of age. God bless them both!
Love softball, tennis and racketball
Hobbies include: photography, woodworking, collec...Expand for more
ting almost anything, computer, etc.
We worship at the Littleton Church of Christ, teach an Adult Sunday School Class and host a neighborhood Bible Study in our home on Thursday nights!
A "life-time highlight" was being selected to be a "bone marrow donor" in 1993. My recipient was cured of lukemia and now we are great friends! I'd do it again in a flash!
School
My best memories of Junior High School are: baseball little league teams; Boy Scouts (becoming an Eagle scout on the same night as 5 of my best friends...all from the same neighborhood!); church friends (David, Carolyn, Mike, Lou Ann, Nancy,...I'm forgetting some, oops);...
In High School: Baseball team and coach Gorin; same church friends; Football (except our HS team hardly ever won any games!);
College
Freshman year in Carpenter Hall (rm 208)...I think I still remember the mail box combination. Gary Humphrey was a great roommate. Once he beat me up because I accused him of going out with my girlfriend.
Campus Advance, our campus ministry's club on campus was incredible. We did everything together.
I thought I had enough money to last two years, but somehow spent it all in the first three months. Too embarassed to tell my parents, I took a 56-hour/week job at Texas Instruments on the calculator assembly line. For almost two years, that was all I did...school and work and date my girlfriend.
My next roommate was Mike Johnson. He was a good from Austin too.
