Racheal Murphy:

CLASS OF 1987
Scappoose, OR

Racheal's Story

Life Hey, Indians! I'm married and living in Scappoose again. I moved away for a while, but I didn't want the kids to go to Portland schools, so I'm back. I have 5 kids (4 are mine, and I have 1 step-daughter), and a terrific hubby. I work at the transplant center at Good Sam as a Medical Assistant. It's pretty challenging, but quite rewarding. I'd love to hook up with some old friends. Marty B., where are you? I haven't seen you in years. Joel, how's your little girl? Last time I saw you, both our daughters were in-house at Emanuel! Class of '87 rules! School My high school memories? I surprise myself with how much still sticks out in my mind. Good things and bad. Let's see here........... My biggest crush? That would have to be Larry Johnson. I don't think he ever knew. I certainly didn't say anything! But I remember one football game in particular when I thought for sure my little heart was going to burst. The team was coming onto the field after half-time, and we cheerleaders and fans were out on the field to boost them on. Larry slapped my hand in passing. Wow! I just about melted, and floated back to my place on the sidelines. Looking back, I have to say that that was pretty pathetic! Particularly since the object of my devotion was dating someone from St. Helens! My craziest memories? "Take the Gremlin to the beach!" Tricking the V.P. into going to the coast, while we all went to Sauvie Island on a senior skip day. Senior Prom at Farrell's (Marty, it wasn't my birthday) The Bon Jovi concert! (My sister s...Expand for more
till remembers the burn I gave her) My most memorable moments? Football rally with Shelby and Julie. Homecoming court with my escort, Craig. Another cutie! Dion Waters breaking my heart our sophomore year (I forgive you, Dion) Band seniors to Seaside. Riding a Ninja with a strange guy! Playing Uno all night with Robert, Lance and Shelley. My best memory of all; sitting on the beach after the grad party, listening to Bon Jovi sing "Never Say Goodbye" until the batteries ran down, drinking bad beer (we didn't know the difference) by the fire, and realizing for the first time that, this was it! High School was over, and we were all moving on. Bittersweet, to be sure. I hope you all have done well, and have found your place in this world! Racheal Workplace I was a home mom for quite a while. I didn't go back to school until 2000, when I found myself single with kids to raise. I went to school and graduated as a certified medical assistant. I currently work at Good Samaritan in the transplant clinic. I have some heavy responsibilites here, but the work is very gratifying. Seeing people go from severely ill on dialysis, through a kidney transplant and onto a new life, in good health, is extremely rewarding. I feel needed here, and my co-workers are great. Military Ya' know, I tried to enlist in the Army. I come from a very patriotic family, and wanted to do my part. I took the ASVAB, and did very well! But I failed the physical, due to the fact that I had an asthma attack once! Ticked me off, but that's the way it goes.
