Rachel's Story

After graduating from Baker University with a sociology degree, I lived in the Greater KC area for awhile before moving to St. Louis. I stayed there 2 yrs and worked at McDonnell Douglas before coming back to KC. I worked for the government under a one year contract working as an Equal Opportunity Specialist. worked as a legal assistant for an international law firm for 11 years but was laid off. I am in the midst of changing careers and yes, I am going back to school online in healthcare. For those that may or may not know me, I got a cochlear implant 5 years ago and I am loving it!! This is the best thing I ever did for myself. My hearing got worse as I got older and I was not as hard of hearing as I used to be. So the cochlear implant was my solution and I never looked back. I do lots of volunteer work for the Hearing Dog Program (a new one) in San Francisco. I help raise money for this non profit program. A few years ago I rescued a greyhound and I had her for a whole year!! You can ask me why just one year if you like.
