If, anyone from the 1966 class recalls seeing me, sitting on the stage watching most folks dancing in the gym and having a great time while all I could do was watch. After graduation, I met my wonderful soul mate. His name is Edwin Louis Kott. We did not get married in the sixties like some of our classmates did. We waited until 1971 to get married.. It was November 25th, 1971. We got married at my grandma's house. On June 13th of 1974 our 1 and only son was born. We named him Howard, after my mother's maiden name. He graduated from Fruitport High School in 1992. He joined the Army Reserves in the spring of 1991 and took his 1st set of military training during summer vacation. He finished his high school education after that and the next summer he got his second round of military education. He came home after that and married his girlfriend, Dawn Johnson. and after a month or so he had to go back to the Army for more training. He served 2 tours in Iraq. were in Iraq in 2003, about 2 weeks after Bush told the nation that the war was over in Iraq. But it wasn't. They came back the next year, in June, 2004. He had a little more than a year of family time from 2005 until April 2007 when the Army called him back to lead an Airborne unit on a mission to help the people in Bagdad with food, clothing, medical supplies, and clean water. The Army found a willing Iraqui to be Howard's interpretor. His name is Mustafa Al Lami. When Howard returned home he found an appartment that Mustafa and his wife could live in directly across the street from Howard's home. They moved into the apartment in June of 2008. They lived there about a year, until Mustafa decided to rejoin the Army. He was sworn into the Army and then sent to Military Police School, he graduated in 2009. A little while after that he was sent to Fort Polk, Louiseanna with his wife. They have lived there ever since. They have 2 sons. Mustafa was sent back to Iraq in 2010. He came back to his wife and family in 2011. Mustafa is now a Sergeant and Howard is a Sergeant First Class in the Army.
