Ralph's Story
Life
My friends and family know me as JR. I began grade school at McClellan Elementary in Chicago. Before starting 3rd grade, we moved to Romeoville, IL, where I attended Ridgeview Elememtary (now Irene King) for 3rd-5th grade. We moved to Lake Como, WI, where I attended Como Elementary School for 5th-6th grade. I made many friends during my two years at Denison Jr High, but my family moved to Joliet, IL a month before the end of my Freshman year at Badger HS. I Attended JTHS East for 2 years before it closed and I was sent to JTHS Central. After graduating, I obtained my AAS in Electronics Engineering Technology at JJC in 1986. I got married 7/6/91 to Amanda. We haven't decided to have kids yet. I'm now an Electrical Technician for Panduit Corporation at their Terminal Division in New Lenox, IL and we live in Crest Hill. I am still an avid motorcyclist, and love to travel on my bike. Even though my world, as a child, was filled with an incredible array of extremely gifted bullies, idiots and morons who had nothing better to do with their time than pick on those different than them, I enjoyed living in Lake Como, and occasionally return to see how things have changed. I welcome contacts from old schoolmates. Especially those who have also realized that we're all the same inside. We just look and act different. I've noticed that the bullies only pick on the skinny, whimpy kids, like I was in school. I'm now 6ft tall, 215 lbs. It's been some time since I've been bullied. Too bad I didn't know then that the bullies are only ins...Expand for more
ecure and trying to make themselves feel better by pushing around those smaller than them.
School
I was never big into school. I was the type that wanted to get my work done and get the hell out of there so I could go home and ride my dirt bike, after finishing my homework, of course. Extracurricluar activies, like sports, didn't interest me after grade school. Basically, if I didn't have to be in that building, I wasn't!!! I was always able to get A's and B's on my report cards, but I still don't know if that has ever helped me...
College
From the Fall of '84 to the Fall of '86 I attened Joliet Junior College for their excellent Electronics Engineering Technology program. I spent many days studying with fellow Electronics Program geeks and had a good time screwing around between classes. Back then we called it a "High School with ash-trays" or UCLA (University Closest to Larkin Avenue).
Workplace
After receiving my AAS in Electronics in 1986, it was difficult to find a job doing what I was trained for so I did many odd jobs until I began working at Panduit Corporation's Terminal Division in New Lenox, IL. There I started as a machine operator, spent two years in the tool room running CNC Wire EDM machines and in 1992 I filled an opening in the Maintenance Dept as an Electrical Technician and have been in that position since. Fortunately, I enjoy my job and don't have any present plans for changing anything.
Military
I never served in the military, but since 9/11, I often wish I had done my part when I was able.
