Ralph's Story
Okay, so I'm asked to tell my story. It is not like my life has been one moving experience after another. More like a mundane day to day life.
Right out of high school, Uncle Sam told me to enlist or be drafted. Since I could "see the world" in the Navy, that is where I went. The world I saw was through the porthole on the U.S.S.Kitty Hawk. I spent three years as a jet mechanic, attack squadron 52, and was privileged to see Viet Nam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Hawaii. Home port was Whidbey Island, Washington. From there I returned to Colorado Springs and went to work for Overh...Expand for more
ead Door Company. Later, I worked for El Paso County. My jet mechanic experience led me to Routt County, where I worked for the coal mine as a heavy equipment mechanic. After the mine shut down, I operated my own feed and ranch supply business. About 15 years ago, I was offered a position with the school district as a "chauffeur". That job was about the most stressful and fulfilling job I have had. I enjoyed being a mentor to the kids. I was forced to retire about three years ago, due to the progression of my MS. Currently, my wife(of 30 years) and I are pursuing every fish I can find.
