Rami's Story
For those of you who have been following the Ricky Scheck saga, here is an update: Last summer, I traveled to Buffalo along with my wife and a few friends (i.e., Walt Bies - Class of 1980 & his wife, Susan). One of the objectives of this travel was to reimburse Ricky Scheck for the $35 I borrowed from him in 1978. I used this money to buy sneakers. I expected Ricky to attend the Class of 1980 Reunion, but he did not show. Moreover, my attempts to contact him by e-mail were left unanswered until after I returned home. So who would blame me now if I waited another 18 years before renewing my efforts to clear the balance sheet with Ricky Scheck? He doesn't know my address. He can't find me ... and even if he did, it would be fool hardy for him to initiate a confrontation, considering my intimate knowledge of the martial arts. Yes, I've considered sending him a check by mail, but that approach lacks the personal touch that I think a repayment of this nature deserves. Do you hear what I am saying people of Southside? I'm talking about "hugs." Ricky Scheck loaned me his hard earned money, when no one else at Southside would, and he never asked for it back. Fo...Expand for more
r that reason alone, Ricky Scheck deserves a hug, and DAMN IT, he's gonna get that hug ... someday!
School
It wasn't long before many of my classmates at Southside High School would become jealous of me. I was known as the Jon Bon Jovi of the High School Band, and the women just couldn't keep their hands off of me. I can't begin to tell you how many autographs I had to sign.
College
Life at SUNY Buffalo was pretty good, but life at Southside was like "Happy Days," and I was the Arthur Fonzarelli of the school. This means that people like Vern Gang, Walter Bies, and Bob Ornowski were the Richie Cunningham, Ralph Mouth, and Potsy Weber of the school, and that Dean Mann and Pat Lawler were the Lenny and Squiggy. Yes, I know that Lenny and Squiggy were on "Laverne and Shirley," but there was some crossover. LaVerne and Shirley made their first television appearances as "Laverne and Shirley" on "Happy Days," and I know that Fonzi has been on "LaVerne and Shirley" (the television show I mean). Anyway, I think you understand what I am saying. I was essentially the cool guy in school, and the rest of the above-named individuals were cool-guy wannabees.
