Ramiro's Story
Life
After high school, I joined the Marine Corps and got to do a lot of traveling. I've been to Moscow, Geneva, Bangkok, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Frankfurt,Wash DC and some other places in between. I came home after 5 years and began as a traffic cadet at the Oxnard Police Dept. 6 months later I tested and was hired as a police officer. I've been an officer now for 11 years. I didn't know what career I would wind up in but I'm lucky to be doing something that I truly enjoy. I'm single and don't have any kids. I just haven't found the right one yet. I still like to travel and have taken some cool vacations the last few years. I've been back to Thailand twice a...Expand for more
nd Costa Rica twice. My last vacation was last summer so I should start planning pretty soon. I love my job but it is a little tiring/stressful. That's why I try to take 1 good, long vacation every year. Another activity I like is coaching. For the last 2 seasons I've been the head JV softball coach at Hueneme HS. I still keep in touch with my two best friends, Arturo Godinez and Gabriel Oviedo. Tury is living in Bakersfield, happily married to Lynn Lopez ('88) and has two sons (my Godson Alex and Aaron).
