Ramon's Story

Life I attended St. John Lutheran 1st-4th grades. I was on the Honor Roll every year. I had birthday parties at Legg's Ice Skating rink. I then switched to Discovery Center for 5th & 6th grades. Those were good years. I was offered the opportunity to skip 5th grade, but declined. I was class president for part of 6th grade. For 7th, I went to St. Michaels (Catholic). For 8th grade, I made my first foray into public school. Horace Mann just couldn't keep me interested. I'd already learned what they were teaching. Francisco middle school tried, but just didn't have time for me, as I was too far ahead of the rest of the class. I didn't really go to Mt. Diablo HS, but I lived real close, and I had several friends there. I went to a lot of football and basketball games. I worked at Burger King on Willow Pass in 1983-84. Also at the one on Contra Costa, in Pleasant Hill. I had many parties at my house on Overhill. I was married, had two kids, got divorced. My daughter is now 24. My 18-year-old son lives in Discovery Bay. I now live in Rohnert Park, CA, with my wife of 5 years, and run an internet business, majorleaguepins.com School Miss Fulvio, my 5th grade teacher, was my favorite. I really don't recall any big crushes in school. The girls I liked were friends of my sister or sisters of my friends. Workp...Expand for more
lace Flipping burgers and answering phones. Been there, done that. Ok, we didn't really "flip" burgers at BK. We just ran them through the broiler. Burger King was a fun place to work back then. I worked two weeks at Gemco, but that stunk, so I moved on to Stop n Shop, but that was even worse, so back to Burger King (on Contra Costa this time). Then Kmart, which was ok, but the morale at that store was very low. Poor management. We went through 5 Sporting Goods managers in the less than 5 years I was there. But I was the Sporting Goods Merchandiser when that department had the biggest sales increase of any dept in that store's history (127% over the same month, previous year). I rocked. I eventually moved on to security, working in San Francisco. After 10 years, that was enough, and I started working at MSAS, which became Exel, and then was bought by DHL, at which point I was laid off. But I had started majorleaguepins.com in the meantime, and that has been fairly successful. When I got laid off in January 2007, I took some time to get our new house together, and concentrate on my web site. I took a temp job at Circle Bank, in Novato, for a couple months in the summer, and then began a job at Crystal Geyser Water Co in October. Now laid off again in 2010. The bottled water business is not good these days.
