Ramona's Story
Life has been good to me. My greatest blessings are my husband Henry Kohlmann, three children and five beautiful energetic loving grandchildren ages 19-27. I have lived in Huntington Beach, CA since l977, and I enjoy living seven tenths of a mile from the ocean. I retired in 2006 as an administrative secretary to the zoning administrator for the City of Huntington Beach.
After graduating from high school, I worked for the San Mateo County Juvenile Probation Dept. as a typist-transcriptionist. My biggest goof in life was my former marriage in l962 which ended in divorce in l968.
My current husband and I met at Lockheed Missiles & Space Co. in Sunnyvale where I worked as a department secretary. We enjoyed dancing the nights away for many decades. We've been married 50 years.
My life has been filled with family and travel. Through my husband's career as a corporate attorney, general council, I had the good fortune to travel in comfort throughout Europe, the Caribbean, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the Philippines. Since retiring we have enjoyed cruising to many new places including Alaska and Central America. Our cruise on the Mediterranean was a favorite. The biggest adventures in my life have been white water rafting in Canada, travel to the Philippines to visit my family roots in the provinces where we spent some nights sleeping on a board for a bed surrounded by mosquito nets and lizards on the ceiling of a bamboo hut on stilts. I must say the provinces in the Philippines were beautiful especially the people and the soft white sands of the beach and clear blue ocean on Island of Boracay.
We had a sailboat for 25 years & I loved our day trips sailing the waters of San Diego. I was pretty good at hoisting the sails but lousy at keeping her in the wind.
Grandchildren are my greatest pleasure now. When not interacting with the grandchildren, I am reading or doing something creative such as writing or crocheting. I also enjoy thought-provoking walks along the ocean's shore, barefooted. I aspire to find freedom of self, joy in life, kindness to all, and to be young at heart. I seek out people who have a positive outlook. I enjoy laughing at my own mistakes.
My high school memories are of good kind people, many of whom I have thought about.
I look forward to reading about my classmates. Hopefully, I will hear from some of you as well.
