Randall's Story

After leaving Central I also left Pueblo for about a dozen years returning in 1984. I had an unfortuante bout of Temporary Death syndrome (a.k.a. marriage) which renders the next roughly 15 years not much worth mentioning except for the arrival of my two younger sons Evan and Seth (my eldest Brian and I never really knew one another but have begun to get better aquainted in recent years) I am a retired Firefighter and now a Musician (blessed by being able to do the two greatest jobs on the planet) and also a part time housepainter. I now live in Avondale, a recent move that has been a wonderful one. I am a small town boy at heart, the pace and the values and decency of such places is a wonderful thing. As my sons are now grown and gone, I live with my friend and roommate Freya, a 9 y.o. manx cat. Music has been and will always be a huge part of my life. It was my salvation in the dark days of my separation and divorce and now it's my portal to the stars. I've played now for about 42 years and have finally started to learn it as I should have...Expand for more
years ago. I have been an attendee (know as an "offender", or in my case "repeat offender") at a magical place called the Fur Peace Ranch, a magical musical workshop/school located about 17 miles SE of Athens, OH and owned by Jorma Kaukonen and his lovely wife Vanessa. Jorma was the original lead guitar player in the Jefferson Airplane and then (and now) formed Hot Tuna and has always been one of my guitar "heroes". The chance to meet him and work with him and learn from him has been one of the great privileges and pleasures of my life. I have two granddaughters by my son Brian in FL whom I have unfortunately and regrettably not yet met, but that day is coming. I also am expecting my first grandson (by my son Evan) on or about Christmas Eve. I can wait!. My children have always been the great joys of my existence, and if I should die tonight I know I have left something wonderful behind. If you have reached this point and have yet to nod off I thank you, and I hope your life has been and will be filled with great joy, contentment, and peace.
