Randall's Story

Well, my story is that I've lived all over the country since high school. 1972-1973 John Wesley College in Owosso, Michigan. Worked for the school administration as a writer / photographer propagandist. This group took over the old Owosso College and turned it into a school of higher Christian education. Pres. & VP ran an investment program, bilked thousands of people out of millions in a Ponzi scheme; took the cash & flew to the Bahamas in the middle of the night. So much for that... 1973-1976 Hope College, Holland Mich. Graduated Cum Laude with a dual degree, art & journalism (totally unmarketable, by the way...) 1975 New York City. Did an apprentice semester working for a graphic designer on Madison Avenue. 1976 - 1979 NYC. Moved back to the city after graduation. Worked for Allied Graphic Arts in the fashion catalog business. Worked on Bloomingdales, Macy's, Lane Bryant, etc. 1980 - 1982 Dallas, TX. Moved to Texas to become a writer. Worked for an ad agency that became part of Rapp & Collins. 1982-1985 Dallas, TX. Became direct marketing manager for Tracy-Locke / BBDO. Worked on Taco Bell, Philips Petroleum, Pepsico, Haggar Slacks, Gaviscon accounts. 1985 - 1988 Dallas, TX. National Ad Manager, Morgan Buildings. Handled advertising, PR and merchandising for 55-store national retail chain. Walked around in a lot of muddy lots on the side of the highway. 1988 - 1990 Nashville, TN. VP of Creative & VP of Account Service, FKB Direct. ...Expand for more
Worked with 130-person ad agency creating direct mail for banks including MBNA, CitiBank, The Associates, etc. London-based chain of 41 agencies around the world went belly-up in 1990; stuck in Nashville. Started my own company. 1990 - current. President of Strategic Direct Marketing, Inc. We produce direct mail advertising campaigns for mortgage companies, insurance, banks, credit unions, etc. 2009. Founded World Hunger Team, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation dedicated to solving world hunger. Seriously. Visit World Hunger Team on the web. Working with an old Lakeshore High alumnus, Steve Gulyas, who is consulting to us as a leading plastics industry exec. Working with WaterBrick International out of Orlando, who has perfected the art of making bricks out of recycled plastic. Wrote two books (search them on Amazon and buy them; thanks for your support) 2008: "Better Groceries for Less Cash" (hey, I've always been a cheapskate) and "Feed the World for (almost) Free, Forever." This second one is the position statement for my non-profit foundation. Still married (technically) to Nakita Click, originally from New Orleans. It will be 25 years in April, 2010. Adopted 3 kids from Russia in 1997. Sasha (now 16), Vera (now 14) and Victor (now 13). Living in Brentwood, TN (suburb of Nashville. I'm one of the only Democrats in a sea of lock-stepping Republican rich so and so's...) Hoping to sell my business in 2010 and work full-time on World Hunger Team.
