Randie's Story

Went back to school at the ripe old age of 53,never too young to learn. This time I pursued Pharmacy Technician & will be taking the state board in June or July. It was fun?? being the oldest student but I'd never want to be 18 again unless I could know what I know now. I'm really looking forward to the new challenge. I will be taking on a new role in the next few weeks of GRANDMA when my eldest son & wife welcome their son. He will be the 1st grandchild on both sides. Oh, he won't be SPOILED at all. He'll also have 2 great grandmas which is really cool. My middle son is serving his 2nd yr. in the Marines. He is stationed at Pendleton for now. He was on the east coast & being a native CA kid, the snow wasn't his deal. Thankfully he hasn't been deployed. I hope & pray things will have calmed down considerably before then. Let me say that was 1 of the hardest things to do as a parent was seeing your child go away as a 'boy' & come back a MAN. He grew 2 inches (6'3+") & 208 lbs. I feel short at 5'7" standing next to him. My youngest son is working part time & will...Expand for more
be going back to school to major in Video Gaming Journalism. He's always liked it & may as well do something he likes. (he also is tall 6'2"). The only thing shorter than me is my cat. At least I don't have to always get the step ladder to get things down. I'm looking forward to putting on the next reunion for our class; which will be our 40th in 2013. I enjoy my down time reading, sewing or making quilts (when I have the time), also like to cook but too many different schedules to accommodate. I try to stay positive; it makes life alot easier since I deal with RA (rheumatoid arthritis) & lupus since 68. I am surprised that there are 5 other girls from Glendora that also have it. Also we have an incredible amount of people who have passed from various forms of cancers; as well as anuerysms of the brain or heart. Any thoughts on that?? I am thankful for the days I can get out of bed; which I consider a good day. The others well, they're not the most pleasant. But we all have our own little deals to handle..so I keep as positive as I can..it makes it so much easier.
