Randy's Story
The condensed version: Went off to Purdue University after high-school to pursue a career as an actor. Didn't seem like the right place so left school after one semester and headed to NYC. While there, worked at Max's Kansas City and Arthur. Befriended Jimi Hendrix and met Janis Joplin. However, didn't stay long. Left NYC and hitchhiked to Arizona where I got married, had 3 children and spent eleven years in resort hotel management.
In the early 80's decided I wanted to go back to school - a bit of a challenge with a wife and 3 kids, so I joined the Navy and became a Data Systems Technician (Computer/Electronic Engineer field). Spent 7 years in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego CA, Vallejo CA, Norfolk VA (all of these were for schools for electronics) then off to Naples Italy for 4 years. While working for the Navy in Italy, I got (finally) my bachelors degree in Information Systems.
I left the Navy in the late 80s and went to work for Honeywell Federal Systems Inc at the NATO bunker in Mons Belgium. I lived in Belgium for two years (that's where I was for the 20 year reunion). While there I got my masters degree in Information Systems from Vrie Universta...Expand for more
t/Boston University in Brussels.
I returned to the States and went to work for Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) where I am still employed as a Vice President and Director of the Program Management office of the Health Solutions Business Unit. We develop information systems for DoD, VA, Center for Disease Control, Social Security and other health customers. While living in Reston, Virginia and working at SAIC I attended George Mason for my PhD work in Information Systems (ABD). In 1996 I moved to California.
I remarried and had two more children. This marriage didn't work out and in 2005 I became a single dad with an 6 and 8 year old. At this point my life seem to be in a bit of a crisis both professionally and personally. I found my salvation and hope for the future by giving my burden to Christ. This faith has sustained me and guided me in my primary job "Josh and Kylie's dad". Since then I have remarried to a wonderful woman and have a new primary job "Victoria's husband". Keeping a focus on God and my relational responsibilities has put everything else in perspective. Life is good - hope all of you are in good health and doing well.
