Randy's Story

I joined the Army with James Gilmore in 1968 under the "buddy" system. We went to basic training at Fort Bragg then were stationed far apart from there on! So much for the buddy system. I went to Fort Gordon, GA and James went to Fort Polk, LA, both for infantry training. I went on there to Special Forces training at Bragg and James went to the "shake and bake" instant NCO school where he graduate...Expand for more
d as a Sergeant. He then went straight to Viet Nam and I remained at Bragg for almost a year of training, then was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group at Bragg. For some reason I was never sent to Nam? Stayed is SF in various units in various places until 1991 when I made Sergeant Major and was assigned to the US Army Parachute Team, "Golden Knights". Retired in 1998 and became a Real Estate Appraiser. Vicki and I travel a lot but I am still working. Well, that's it folks!!
