Randy's Story
So I looked at a few profiles and did not see much written. Here is a brief synopsis of my story beginning with the present. I describe our life today as living in the sweet spot. There is a nice balance of time with our two children and five grandchildren, work, and recreation. I retired after 34 years with WSDOT in 2002 but achieved an MA in counseling in 2001. We built a home in Lakewood over 20 years and moved into our current home 3 years ago. This home has been an adventure with two years upgrading this mid-century ranch inside and outside. Our outdoor living space was included on this years Tour of Remodeled Homes and is scheduled to be featured next year in South Sound Magazine. We have been attending Puyallup Foursquare Church for the past 13 years.
Considering our age most of us have been visited by loss. My dad passed away from Alzheimer's and Denise has lost two younger brothers to cancer and suicide.
My counseling practice is part-time which leave me time to golf once or twice a week. I played softball for years as well as mountain climbing and skiing. A bad knee limits the skiing these days and mountain climbing ended long ago after a couple friends died including Bob Nelson.
There hasn't been much connection from high school alumni. Occasionally Denise's brother Gary Pessemier puts together a lunch that may include Jim Pruit and Mark Phenning.
