Randy's Story
during my senoir year, I ran away from home and ended up joining the Marines. Wound up going around the world as a bodyguard for the 7th fleet admiral. Got out when my hitch was up, came back to denver and still didn't see eye to eye with my dad so I went out to the west coast and got on a fishing boat. Worked odd jobs btween trips and eventually got married to a gal who came from Denver. Knew her from Arapahoe high. We had a boy, now 27. Became the youngest licensed fishing boat Capt at that time and found out fishing for a living and marriage aren't a good mix. I chose fishing. Hey, my specialty was Swordfish with a harpoon. Face to face, adrenaline russshh! Kinda dangerous, but fun and some years worth it. I8 years later, My body couldn't take the physical beating anymore so I got my pilots license and started spotting swords for a living. Very lucrative until I started crashing aircraft all over the ocean. Well only twice in the water and once on the runway. Not bad out of thousands of hours flown. In between trips, I either worked on my boat or worked odd jobs in the fishery industry/ Seafood markets mostly. Had another failed marriage. In 1993, Dec. I came back home, a little worse for wear. It was a bad year. Rekindled my friendship with Gloria Yotter(remember her?) and a few months later was once again married. Still am happily more than 12 years later. Want to know more(it gets better. Addendum 3-2-05 This time last year, I was on a flite for Life to Memorial hospital in Colorado Springs with heart failure and a drug reaction(prescribed drugs) and ended up in a coma for five days. ailure once again that turned into kidney, heart and lung failure. I was in the hospital until Jan. 15, 2005. I feel much better now thanks to the prayers of all my friends and family and hope I am on the road to recovery. If anyone knows what happened to Julie or Sam Dalton from the early 70's, please contact me through classmates Good luck! Addendum 2-1-06 I am solidly on the road to recovery. I can actually get out of my wheelchair a bit these days. Live way out in the boonies with Gloria and we now run a ranch with Emus, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. It's omly 40 acres, but it's our piece of heaven. I have written my first novel. It's at the publisher now. Look for it," A Young Man and The Sea " Contact me through Classmates

While in the Marines, I went to the NCO academy and placed 7th in my class. Took more course in leadership, special weapons and guerilla tactics. Attended J.E.S.T. in the Bataan Valley, PI.That's Jungle Evasion and Survival Training. Ate lots of bugs and things most people won't eat. Got hot and cold, scared to death, and just generally miserable for 30 days. When I first got out, Took Business Admin and Bus Law at ACC, Littleton. Later I went to Long Beach CC for Air conditioning and refrigeration design. Used my knowledge to maintain the sophisticated fishhold freezers in some of the boats I operated in my fishing career. Mostly fished for Swordfish Tuna and squid for 18 years. Went to El Camino CC for my Ground school and also took the same course two more times at El monte airfield ground school. Got my Airmans certificate (private), worked my way up to commercial and spent the last two yrs of my fishing career spotting Swordfish from a Cessna 172
