Randy's Story

Hey everyone, here's my story: Following graduation from Clintondale in '73, joined the Navy. I spent over 21 years in the Navy and was stationed in California, Washington, Michigan (2 tours in Recruiting), Virginia and South Carolina, retiring in 1994 in Virginia Beach, VA. I went overseas to places like Greece,Spain, Italy, Austria, France, and more. I also serve in Desert Storm. Married by high school girlfriend, Kim Castellano in 1975. We divorced in 1982. We had one child together, Gabriel. Gabriel had a heart condition and that evenentually took him from us in 1993. I remarried in 1982 (divorced 17 years later in 1999) and had another son, Luke. Luke is now 24, married (also married high school sweetheart) and like me, joined the Navy after graduation. He is now an E-6 in the Navy (6 years now) and stationed here in Virginia Beach (waiting on grandchilderen to arrive some day!). I am now living in ...Expand for more
Virginia Beach with my significant other, Liz (marriage doesnt seem to agree with me)and her 18 year old daughter. I work as a Director with Career Management Center at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. I get back to Michigan now and then to visit my brother Larry and see old friends. I miss the summer and fall, but not the 9 months of winter! The rest of my family moved to Florida/Georgia. My parents both passed away 2 years ago and my brother Dave (class of '72) passed away from a rare form of bone cancer 6 years ago. Hope to be able to connect with old classmates and look forward to any reuinions that may come up. I still loyally (and sometimes blindly) follow the Tigers, Lions, Redwinhgs, Pistons and UM and MSU. I miss and often crave Big Boy,Vernors, and National Coney Island chili dogs! They don't have anything like that here in the South! Take care and God Bless, Randy Shabro

Sad to hear Yogi Berra (90) passed away this morning . So many great Yogi isms like "it gets late early" "If you come to a fork in the road..take it"! RIP Yogi .
