Randy's Story
I have been married and divorced twice. I have no idea if I will ever do that again. I try not to use the word "never". But I have two fine adult sons, one of whom is in Iraq with his National Guard unit.
As a parent, I have learned that doing your best with what you have available at the time is more than sufficient. Do what you need to do with love in your heart, and the rewards will come.
I spent 6 years in the Navy after high school. I then worked 20 years as a toolmaker in Minneapolis. I then entered college at the ripe old age of 47 and earned 3 degrees in 3 years, GPA 3.9. (I was a much better student in college than in High School). I was the oldest student in every class. This was uncomfortable, but I grew accustomed to it by the time I graduated. It will be a surprise to some of my High School classmates to know that I was the student body graduation speaker.
I am now a Manufacturing Engineer. I am laid off from Caterpillar, so the current economic crisis is tearing me a new one.
Archery has ...Expand for more
been my passion since High school. I was even a National Champion in the early 90's. I am a lifelong bowhunter and writer with a number of magazine articles in my portfolio. Hey, I even have a few poems that I think are pretty good.
I derive my inspiration from nature. It has been the one and only form of consistency in my life.
I am a fair weather Vikings fan. If a game starts going badly, I will turn it off.
I hope that old classmates remember me as a friend with character and integrity. But High School was a very long time ago for me. I can't say that I have vivid memories of many people. I have evolved many times since then and I am now a completely different person.
But I have always been extremely sensitive. I also grew up with a very troubled homelife. This was a combination that resulted in unstable emotional health. But after many years of introspection (and maybe a little maturity?), I have developed the means to cope with that side of my personality and "keep the wolves outside the door."
