Randy's Story

I moved to Southern California (Orange County) in 1986 with the local Portland band "Betrayer". Myself and a few guys from Centennial class of 86, along with a friend from another school. We had some mild success playing L.A. and O.C. clubs etc. and writing and recording songs but it didn't last long and we dis-banded in late 1987. I met new musician friends over the next couple of years and we formed a new band in 1989 called Backstreets. Backstreets had considerably more success in Hollywood. Headlining shows on Saturday nights at the famous Whiskey, Roxy and Troubadour. We had a producer, a manager and a lawyer. We spent lots of time in the recording studio and shopped our music and the band to record companies in hopes of getting that elusive "contract". Sadly it did not happen for us and eventually we called it quits in 1994. I do miss getting together from time to time to write and play music. Music is still a very important part of my life. During that time, I got married to my wife, Sheri (no kids), actually created a nice career for myself doing software design and programming for technology companies in the Travel industry. (Don'...Expand for more
t ask me how I got involved in that, it's a long story.) I am very proud of my latest business opportunity. I am now the VP of Systems Architecture and Development for a small New York based company that is doing quite well. The name is eCommission Solutions and we work with large, corporate travel management companies to recover and increase their commissions. Sounds boring, I know, but it's actually a great company. Great people. I work from my home in Orange County CA, over 25 years here now. It would be hard to live anywhere else, with the nice weather and quality of living we have here. My parents family still all live in the Portland area and I do get up there a couple of times a year to visit. Always nice to catch a Blazers game at the Garden too! I love to travel and spend a time following my lifelong NFL team, the Steelers, and of course the Trailblazers. I get over to Vegas when I can although, Maui will always be my favorite place in the world! Anyway, that is the thumbnail sketch of my life since high school... I would love to share more but don't want to bore anyone! Just email me if you want to re-connect and share stories.
