Randysue's Story

Boy, life has a way of taken twists and turns you never dreamed of, but I guess that is what makes the ride so much fun!! Lots of ups and downs, but all in all a pretty good life. I have been married to one man since 1978, 32 years together is a good marriage these days. We were never blessed with children, but have horses and dogs. We are currently living in a little town in West Virginia called Hinton. It is a quaint little town with 3 major rivers converging into one. Needless to say tourism is a major industry down here. My husband, Curtis, has a pretty successful small business doing tree surgery and landscaping. I worked as a nurse for several years, but unfortunately developed a latex allergy and was told to stop nursing. Went back to school and received my bachelors degree in education. Instead of teaching I got into social work, and I work as a social worker for the state. Curtis also is an avid rafter. We have one of the best rivers on ...Expand for more
the east coast for rafting,it is called the New River and it has some great rapids that range anywhere from class I to class IV rapids. I used to raft some with him, but due to health issues in recent years, I have been unable to go with him much. We have two homes, one on the mountain that is our main living place. That is where we keep our "babies". We also have a home on the Greenbrier River. This home is also near the John Henry Legend tunnel, so every year, around the second week in July, we have a picnic/party during the John Henry Festival with live music, food and fireworks. I usually get to Maryland to visit about 2 times a year. We were up there during the snowstorm in December. Got back home and we had about 3-4 footn snow on the mountain. I think throughout the entire winter we had a total of 12 feet. The good thing is, that spring has sprung in the mountains, and the river is running, the fish are biting and life is pretty good.

I can’t believe I’ve been with this guy 45 years. Everyday is a surprise! I have been truly blessed to have this great man in my life. We don’t always see eye to eye, but we both know we can forever count on each other.
