More about Raul:"Raul "Roy" Barrera was born on June 3, 1950 in Robstown, TX to migrant worker parents who worked in West Texas in the cotton fields in the winter months. Raul remembers working long hours as a young teenager in the hot South Texas sun. Raul decided one day after he told his mother that he would someday grow up and work with a suit and tie because he had seen how hard his parents and older siblings had worked in the fields. Raul dreaded every year having to come home to South Texas, because that meant he had to start school late in the year and had to be a diligent student. he Robstown Police Department. He continued his education at Del Mar College where he studied and received his Peace Officer License, which allowed him to become a Certified Peace Officer with the Robstown P.D. Raul, was assigned to the D.A.R.E Program (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). For a short period of time in his career he worked with the Constable Department Precinct 5. All together Raul has worked over 35 plus years in Law Enforcement. He currently works as a Special Deputy/Court Security Officer at the United States Federal Courthouse in Corpus Christi, TX.
Raul married to Terry Barrera and is a proud father of Sandra (Ramon Ramos), Anthony (Jackie) Michael B. and has five grandchildren along with one great grandchild. A devoted Christian and is a member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church. Raul is a hardworking man of integrity with family values, morals and dedication. He believes in doing what is right for the constituents of District 27.
