Life
I was born July 17, 1954 in Chicago IL. I grew up on the westside and had both parents in the home, no brothers and sisters. At age 7 was when I discovered my Love for music, which included playing in the drum and bugle corps at Manley Elementary school along with private piano lessons from a neighborhood piano teacher. My Love for music grew as I entered talent shows throughout my grammar school years.
My music education became formal and I started studying piano lessons at Lyon & Healy in downtown Chicago. By age 12 during my last years of upper grade center, I began self- instruction music composition, arranging and orchestration studies. In my early high school years I found myself composing music for various theatrical productions and talents shows. My music teachers proclaimed me to be an outstanding musical prodigy during that time.
In my senior year 1972, I won the outstanding award for best musicianship at a high school level and it was then that my teachers encouraged me that after graduation, I should attend the infamous Conservatory FontainBleu in Paris where the internationally known composition teacher Nadia Boulanger taught. I never went to study in Paris. In 1980, I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. to pursue a bachelors degree in film scoring. in 1981 I continued my music studies at the American Conservatory of Music. In 1998, I graduated from Roosevelt University with a Masters in Music Composition. In 2000, I remarried a long time friend of 7 years and in 2000, we had a baby girl.
Today, I own and operate Ray Bozeman Productions,a music production company & recording studio, have performed as jazz pianst on a CD titled" Play Time" by artist Steve Flowers, will release my dance music CD " titled " Metal Sky" in June 04 as I continue to work as a side musician including a 3 year stint as company pianst for the famous Black Ensemble Theatre in Chicago. In 2002, I realized a childhood dream and went to Hollywood where I studied film scoring with the famous composer/musician Mark Isham.
I hope to score a major block buster film to leave as my legacy before I leave this world. With the grace of God, I know it will happen.
