Ray's Story
Just a random guy....
After h/s I raced my bike (bicycle) and went to college in VA Beach for 2 years. Tried to do the Olympic thing in L.A. in 1984, but found I wasn't going to be a Lance Armstrong, so I got a job and raced part-time. Went to Rutgers for a year, then started working full-time and went to night school. Did the corporate thing for about 15 years while earning an Associates in Computer Info Systems and a Bachelors in Business. Worked in communications systems programming (when 2800 baud was a fast modem....) and managed data communications networks for Dun & Bradstreet, AIG and Merrill Lynch. am full-time. I wasn't making any money, but I was enjoying living.....
Went to several Olympic Games and numerous World Championships and raced in about 18 different countries. Hired and worked with 55 different athletes from 12 different countries (speaking 6 different languages), including several Olympic and World Champions. It was the hardest job in the world, and the best job in the world. I sold the team/business to my business partner in 2007, and now manage a family business.
Since I like to travel (bike racing was the best way to fulfill that goal), I take a few weeks per year to try a different Country with my wife. At last count we've visited 21 different countries and have taken 7 cruises. I still ride my bike and enjoy working with the cycling industry, solving business problems with new technologies, and meeting new (and old) friends for a good meal and a glass of wine (or a pint of Guinness).
