Ray Stengel:

CLASS OF 1975
Springfield, PA

Ray's Story

So much to tell, so little space and probably no one cares anyway (LOL). I've just resettled into the greater Philadelphia area with a new company located in Devon. I've spent the better part of my career in the Human Resources field; I"m currently the Head of Global Compensation & Benefits for LECG. Certainly, not the path I thought I would ever pursue, but how many of us really knew who we were going to be when we grew up. I've been fortunate to have held similar positions with many "best in class" companies along the way -- American Express, ADP, Aetna, KPMG and CDI. I was married for 29 years, but now I'm in a transition phase. I have 3 great kids -- Lauryn who works for Ernst & Young and lives in NYC; Matt, who is a senior engineering major at Cornell and is captain of the soccer team, and Brendan who is a junior in high school in NJ and plays football (at least one them followed in my footsteps). Coming back home has afforded me the opportunity to be close by for my mother -- God Bless she is her mid 80's and is as feisty as ever. She is now a full-time political junkie. Heaven help Obama, Pelosi, Palin, etc. if they ever come into town. Unfortunately, I lost my brother, Joe, 4 years ago and my father 14 years ago. I'm sure time has taken its toll on...Expand for more
many of us. I certainly don't look anything like my high school yearbook picture. I've lost most of my hair on top and the rest is shaved rather than dealing with the comb over look. My remaining hair is no longer brown (I like to say it's gray but in reality it's white). And my waistline has expanded to the point where it is now in a dead heat with my age as to which will get to 54 first. Someone recently came up to me in an airport and told me that I looked like Dick Cheney. She didnt' think it was too funny when I told that I really was Dick and to be quiet as I was launching an air strike on my blackberry. I've had the opportunity to stay in contact with other Sprinfield-ites over the past few years. It certainly seems like the bonds that we created in high school have sustained through the years. I was working and living in St Petersburg, FL for the prior 4 years and came across some very good Springfield people -- Jon Muller, Tommy Gilbert and Ray Suppa. And, no less, I've come to learn that my senior prom date -- Dottie D. was only 20 miles away in Bradenton. Unfortunately, I moved away before we had the chance to connect. That's all for now. My condolences to anyone who is taken the time to read this. God Bless to All and Your Families, Ray
